An exciting opportunity to join our expanding team and work as part of our skilled grain team to secure existing business and develop new opportunities for grain and commodities trade in both domestic and overseas markets. As an experienced grain trader, you will nurture strong and long-lasting relationships, develop your portfolio of contacts, generate opportunities and contribute towards the growth of our business.
We will be looking to you to help us with:
- Procuring grain and commodities from existing Farm Accounts as well as target and develop new domestic and overseas markets.
- Developing your portfolio of contacts to generate opportunities.
- Securing business with long-term contracts for continuity of commitment.
- Acting as a conduit between supplier and end-user within the supply chain for efficient placement of commodities.
- Encouraging and motivating the wider team, providing daily market insights, pricing information and to support efficient procurement of grain at sufficient volumes while maximising profit margins.
- Agreeing acceptable risk management strategy on trading positions and with the Grain Commercial Manager, consider future profitability, the trading book and business volumes.
- Overseeing freight contracts related to the export contracts, booking freight ahead of transactions or booking 'spot' and working to reduce impact on margin.
About You:
Previous experience of grain trading / buying is essential for this role with a demonstrable in-depth knowledge and experience to include UK and European export grain markets. You will ideally have a portfolio of industry contacts. You must be an excellent communicator with strong verbal, written and numerical skills. Able to build relationships within the industry, working within a team with colleagues and customers. Able to demonstrate sound decision making and aptitude to deliver exceptional customer services.
