Job Description:
This role is with a multinational food manufacturer known for iconic brands. The Packaging Development Manager will join the in-house packaging division to drive innovation, value improvement, and quality in packaging solutions, supporting category growth through asset-driven innovation and new technologies.
You will provide input on packaging projects, collaborate with technical and operations teams, and develop new packaging formats and innovations. Your responsibilities include managing packaging specifications, supporting site implementation, project management, ensuring compliance, and maintaining supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver packaging projects in collaboration with marketing, product development, and operations.
- Manage packaging specifications and implementation processes.
- Support sites and team members in developing and delivering packaging solutions.
- Prepare project documentation, including timelines and risk assessments.
- Provide expertise on packaging for procurement strategies.
- Create packaging specifications ensuring legislative compliance and functional performance.
- Develop packaging documentation such as cutter guides, component drawings, and trial protocols.
- Coordinate quality testing for new packaging formats.
- Participate in factory development meetings and communicate issues and opportunities.
- Develop success criteria and trial protocols for new machinery and materials.
- Engage with suppliers and external groups to update packaging knowledge.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree or higher in food science, packaging, engineering, design, or related fields; food science degree preferred.
- Experience in an FMCG packaging technical role, familiar with various materials and machinery.
- Understanding of business terminology, product-to-market processes, and technical systems; proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP.
- Strong technical, communication, and team leadership skills.
- Experience in planning and managing factory trials.
- Basic Food Hygiene knowledge.
