Opportunity: ESG Lawyer at a Global Organisation

An exceptional opportunity has arisen to join a global organisation as an ESG Lawyer. The successful candidate will be part of the Public Policy and Corporate Responsibility Legal team, based in Glasgow with a hybrid working model requiring only 2 days per week in the office. You will collaborate with colleagues in London and be integrated into the wider Glasgow legal team.

The team supports the organisation\’s sustainability initiatives, including its goal to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and aligning financing strategies with the Paris Agreement. They work closely with other legal professionals to facilitate the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide legal guidance on public sustainability policies and disclosures
• Contribute to the Climate and Sustainability Report and regulatory disclosures
• Engage with shareholders and stakeholders, including at AGM
• Support the Climate Risk team
• Monitor emerging sustainability-related litigation and regulatory risks
• Review approaches to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and associated risks
• Work on Biodiversity disclosures and ESG taxonomies
• Support the development of Sustainability governance and standards for ESG products and services
• Assist in evolving the organisation\’s approach to human rights issues

Candidate Requirements:

• Qualified UK, US, EU, or Commonwealth Lawyer (Solicitor, Attorney, or equivalent)
• 5-6 years of PQE with significant legal experience in-house or in private practice, particularly in ESG, Sustainability, or Climate Change
• Additional experience in financial services and regulatory law is advantageous

• Highly analytical with creative and innovative problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple locations
• Commercially astute with an understanding of regulatory issues
• Confident in advising on risk and mitigation strategies
