Environmental Degree Apprentice
** Start Date – Monday 6th January 2024 **
Worksop site – S81 7AY

Starting salary of £22,500 per year with an annual increment each year of Apprenticeship, on successful progression through the apprenticeship programme and performance in the job role.
You will be studying towards a 5-year Degree Apprenticeship.
Academic delivery will be held at Coventry University under block release, where expenses and accommodation will be provided.

Role Purpose:
To complete the degree apprenticeship and putting into practice learnings and knowledge gained academically, to support Premier Foods to achieve our ESG strategy and the Enriching Life Plan which is focused around a greener, healthier, more sustainable work environment.
To support the Environmental Manager and the site to ensure that the Environmental Management System complies with statutory and Premier Foods requirements alongside the development and implementation of site energy monitoring and waste reduction initiatives.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assisting the Environmental Manager in providing the material for induction and training, ensuring material is inclusive and accessible to all.
- Attending key Project meetings to help to embed sustainable behaviours throughout project lifecycles.
- Utilising research developed from personal and university learning to make meaningful contributions to projects and ways of working.
- Assisting in reporting and investigating environmental incidents.
- Producing Project statistics and KPIs which can be presented back to project leadership and Environmental Manager.
- Assisting in carrying out carbon and quality audits and subsequent reports, ensuring where required, follow-up of corrective actions overall meeting the ISO14001 requirements.
- Supporting with detailed plans to tackle our energy consumption by improving efficiencies, increase renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions.
- Developing a culture of embedded sustainability through innovation and lessons learned reports.
- Supporting plans to achieve sustainability goals, providing governance, training and stakeholder engagement and building partnerships.
- Helping to provide specialist environmental advice and support to our operations teams, including undertaking specialist environmental activity.
- Ensuring compliance to and role modelling Health, Safety and Environment standards, in line with Company procedures.
- Developing working knowledge of relevant geo-environmental legislation, standards, and guidance.
- Application of theoretical and academic understanding gained during studies to real world projects.
- Supporting the Environmental Manager with the sites EA & STW permits and consents.
You will be working typically, 07:00-15:00 or 08:00-16:00 when working onsite.
What we need from you:
- 112 UCAS tariff points or relevant recognised prior learnings/experience.
- Strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively and intuitively either alone or in a small team.
- Sound communication and personal effectiveness skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
- Interest in sustainability and the environment.
- Good working knowledge of MS packages including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Enthusiastic, engaged attitude and eagerness to learn and develop personally and professionally.
