Aon is currently recruiting a Cost Engineer/Valuer to join its Aon Natural Resources Risk Engineering team (ANRE).

The Cost Engineer/Valuer will be primarily responsible for providing/supplementing valuations services to internal and external clients in the Power, Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical sectors. The role will support Aon’s wider power and energy client base.

About the Role

As a Cost Engineer/Valuer, some of your key responsibilities will involve:

  1. Producing replacement cost valuations for insurance purposes.
  2. Advising colleagues on current construction values of Hydrocarbon and other facilities, Inflation Costs, Location Factors, etc.
  3. Preparing Technical Papers on Construction Costs and Inflation.
  4. Ensuring efficient and effective processing of work to clients on a timely basis.
  5. Co-ordination of cost engineering survey programmes and dialogue with insurance market engineers.
  6. Preparation and input to tenders for new business reports.
  7. Providing technical resource and information support for Aon Brokers.

About you

As a Cost Engineer/Valuer, your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

  1. A university degree in an appropriate subject area – Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Cost Engineering (one or more) or extensive high-level estimating experience.
  2. Experience in estimating construction costs at varying levels of detail for major oil, gas, and petrochemical processing facilities.
  3. Demonstrated ability to produce written reports upon quality standards, templates, and within deadlines.
  4. Good interpersonal skills at all levels of an organization.
  5. Good presentational skills.
  6. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  7. Ability to self-organize to deliver services and reports to company standards within agreed timescales.
  8. Flexibility and a willingness to operate outside of previous experience.
  9. Fluent spoken and written English.
  10. Commitment to continuous learning & professional development.

Preferred requirements are:

  1. Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, American Society of Appraisers, Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International or ACostE or international equivalents.
  2. Experience of working in different countries.
  3. Ability to work in a second language, ideally Spanish, French, or German.
