UK Event Medical Services operates from 6 UK bases and is recognized as one of the UK's leading providers of independent ambulance services and healthcare logistics. We offer services largely to the NHS, including Non-Emergency Patient Transport, High Dependency Transfers (Urgent Care), and Secure Patient Transport, as well as Medical Repatriation. Due to growth, we seek to recruit Emergency and Urgent Care Assistants.
The job
Working in partnership with NHS and other care providers, our teams of trained, highly skilled Emergency Care Assistants and Urgent Care Assistants provide high-quality care. Responsibilities include responding to medical and trauma emergencies, inter-hospital transfers, and hospital admissions. You will work as part of a dedicated team including Ambulance Care Assistants, Urgent Care Assistants, and clinicians to provide potentially life-saving care and transportation.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive UKEMS vehicles under various conditions.
- Complete patient report forms and other paperwork, including police, coroner, and solicitor statements.
- Ensure safe transfer of patients using appropriate equipment and manual handling techniques.
- Perform dynamic risk assessments at incident scenes.
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, colleagues, emergency services, and healthcare professionals.
- Conduct vehicle and equipment checks, ensure proper stocking and cleanliness, report faults, and complete records.
- Manage medical supplies and clinical waste appropriately.
- Maintain timely communication with the operations centre.
- Respond as a first responder within scope of practice (FREC4) when necessary.

About you
Ideal candidates typically have experience working for a health trust or independent ambulance service. You should hold relevant qualifications and have knowledge of operational procedures and clinical practices, as well as health & safety legislation. Attributes include reliability, conscientiousness, enthusiasm, self-motivation, the ability to work under pressure and as part of a team, and strong interpersonal skills to interact calmly and professionally.
A full, UK, current driving licence is essential; a clean licence is preferred. All licence enforcements must be declared on application.
This role is physically demanding; you must be able to lift approximately 11 stone / 70 kg with a colleague.
