An exciting opportunity has arisen for an outstanding and experienced educator to join an Ofsted-rated Outstanding Academy in Bradford, which is part of a highly successful and growing Multi-Academy Trust. The academy is seeking a Director of Learning – English, a leadership role that will allow you to drive the strategic vision for the department, inspire both staff and students, and have a lasting impact on educational outcomes. As Director of Learning, you will be at the forefront of shaping and developing the curriculum, driving high standards in teaching and learning, and fostering a culture of excellence within the department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership of the English Curriculum: Take ownership of the strategic planning, development, and delivery of the English curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. Ensure that the curriculum is rigorous, inclusive, and meets the diverse needs of all students.
  • Staff Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and support the English department staff, ensuring that best practices are shared, professional growth is encouraged, and high standards are maintained.
  • Student Outcomes: Monitor and evaluate student performance and progress, implementing strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop and maintain robust systems for assessment, monitoring, and reporting, ensuring that the department meets all performance targets and delivers excellent results.
  • Collaboration and School Development: Work closely with other departments and senior leadership to contribute to the overall academic strategy and improvement plans of the school.
  • Parental Engagement: Maintain strong communication with parents, keeping them informed of student progress, and working with them to ensure the best possible educational outcomes for all pupils.
