Wise Employment is currently recruiting for a Development Chef for an established and successful food manufacturing company based in Callington, East Cornwall. This is an on-site, permanent role offering a salary of up to £50k, working Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

This role is crucial as a Development Chef to lead culinary creation for products for a high-end retailer. You will be responsible for delivering New Product Development (NPD) of savoury products from concept through to launch, ensuring alignment with brand standards and brief directions. You will explore new culinary opportunities, bring innovative products to life, and brief customers through proposals and presentations based on their requirements.

What your day will look like as a Development Chef:

  • Leading the creation of new products from initial concept to food trial, considering manufacturing capabilities and costings
  • Building strong customer relationships, managing product submissions, and adhering to brand standards
  • Monitoring market, consumer, and competitor trends to identify opportunities
  • Leading internal critical path meetings to ensure stakeholder visibility on projects
  • Managing projects and recipe information using Recipe Professor, maintaining accurate NPD recipe files
  • Collaborating with the development and innovation teams to promote a quality culture

Experience required for a Development Chef:

Candidates should have at least 5 years’ experience in a chilled food manufacturing environment, preferably with high-end retailers. A passion for food creation and promotion is essential, along with Food Manufacturing culinary experience. Qualifications include NVQ2/3 or equivalent, Food Hygiene and Allergy Training, recipe formulation understanding, and food sensory skills. Strong presentation, report writing, and computer skills are also necessary.
