About the Role: We are seeking experienced and highly motivated Customer Support Engineers to join our UK-based team, supporting our utility sector clients. This role involves working with advanced GIS systems, specifically GE Smallworld, and contributing to the customization, maintenance, and support of mission-critical applications used for asset mapping and infrastructure management. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation, excellent problem-solving abilities, and prior experience in GIS-based platforms and utilities software. You will collaborate closely with clients, internal teams, and third-party vendors to ensure seamless integration and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform analysis, design, coding, testing, and implementation of customer-specific GIS applications.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for core systems including PNI, Electric Office, and related Smallworld modules.
- Document solutions, workflows, and best practices to ensure knowledge transfer and continuous process improvement.
- Coordinate with clients to understand requirements and provide timely updates and solutions.
- Support integration with third-party systems and ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements.
- Assist in planning and executing future system expansions and enhancements.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in GE Smallworld Product Suite (PNI, Electric Office, Core SW4, SW5).
- Strong experience with Magik programming language.
- Familiarity with GIS solutions in the utility space.
- Hands-on knowledge of SQL, Oracle databases, and VMDS (Version Managed Data Store).
- Working knowledge of Java, K8, and other utility domain technologies.
- Experience with customer-specific customizations and regulatory compliance integration.
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT (e.g., BE/B.Tech/MCA/MS(IT)).
- Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS or OpenGIS technologies.
- Exposure to modules such as GDO, GTO, GSS, GSA, DM, MES, and NRM.
