This is a key board appointment with one of our longest standing and most successful clients.
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) provides the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper operational controls, administrative/reporting procedures, and people/systems in place to effectively grow the company and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. Maintaining control of diverse business operations, the COO is an experienced and efficient leader with excellent people skills, business acumen and exemplary work ethics.
The COO is the company’s second-in-command and responsible for the efficiency of business. The goal of the COO position is to secure the functionality of business to drive extensive and sustainable growth, ethically. As a key member of the executive team, reporting only to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the COO will focus on leading and engaging with people. With outstanding organisational and leadership abilities, and the ability to recognise and cultivate rising talent, the COO is key to pushing the business forward. Understanding the importance of establishing policies that promote positive culture and vision through the company’s operations is critical to the role’s success. A seasoned multi-tasker, the COO can juggle and deliver against a number of different internal and external measures.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Leadership & Management
• Lead and oversee our business support functions on a day to day basis to deliver high quality services to our clients and stakeholders
• Provide training, coaching and mentoring to team members on an ongoing basis and ensure teams maintain their competence in relation to the legal and regulatory issues of which they should be aware
• Monitor and provide guidance on adequate staffing levels for the business to ensure that we are meeting customer demands, service levels and can deliver our duties diligently - Collaboration
• Work with our teams to ensure delivery against the strategic direction set by the CEO and Board. This includes setting clear targets, financial planning, and risk management
• Work with Production, Commercial, Document Services, IT, Projects (Reception) to ensure that effective processes exist and are maintained for all business activities
• Understand the business aspects of technology, formulate priorities and work with the IT team to deliver against these priorities
• Work alongside our Compliance and HR teams to interpret business policy and design to deliver effective quality assurance processes which demonstrate adherence to legal and regulatory requirements - Continuous Improvement
• Work with Production, Commercial, Document Services, IT, Projects (Reception) areas to identify and implement solutions to issues/problems
• Ensure that robust data is available to monitor business performance, and support strategic decision making
• Proactively monitor internal and external trends to gain insight and work with the wider senior management team to shape products and service offerings to increase competitiveness
• Maintain and develop own skills, knowledge and behaviours as well as keep up to date with regulatory standards and changes - Growth
• Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.); assist, as required, in raising additional capital at appropriate valuations to enable the Company to meet sales, growth, and market-share objectives - Reporting
• Provide regular clear reporting to the CEO and other relevant stakeholders on business and team performance in line with business objectives - Relationship Management
• Manage relationships with partners/suppliers and clients, being the professional ‘face’ of the business
