Job Description:
TLT is a leading adviser to the financial services industry. The firm acts for the largest UK banks and other leading firms. We have a role working directly for one of our key clients, supported by our Financial Services Regulatory team. We are seeking Contract Lawyers with over 2 years PQE and a background in Financial Crime, particularly in advising on sanctions.
This role requires technical knowledge and experience in sanctions compliance.
The position is on a day rate contract, likely lasting 4-6 months with potential extension. It is a remote role via an Umbrella company, with some office attendance in London.
The Role
You will work directly with a major client, supported by our Financial Services Regulatory team. Key duties include:
- Advising on financial crime issues related to new products and services
- Applying UK sanctions regimes to the client and its customers
- Drafting financial crime policies and procedures
- Creating training materials and delivering training on financial crime
- Assessing financial crime issues and remediation strategies when problems arise
Your Skills and Experience
Strong technical experience in financial crime, especially sanctions, is essential. Relevant experience can be in private practice, in-house, or compliance roles.
Experience across the full spectrum of financial crime is preferred but not mandatory. A desire to develop in this area is important.
You should have:
- Excellent communication skills and confidence to engage with clients and colleagues at all levels
- Ability to provide strategic advice independently
- Experience in financial crime and sanctions
- Capacity to manage a busy, varied workload
- An enthusiastic, team-oriented approach
