With their head office in a rural area of Derbyshire, you\’ll be working in a beautiful manor house, surrounded by attractive grounds including a mature garden, pond, and various species of fauna and flora, an ecological haven! They also have regional offices in Exeter, Dorset, Greater London, Sheffield, and York.
Their directors all joined as junior staff and are now heavily involved in public enquiries and expert witness work, thanks to their high success rate and ecological reputation.

Your new role
You will work on a diverse range of projects, from small-scale single dwellings to large sustainable developments spanning up to 10 years. The role offers the opportunity to choose projects and develop your career. The main sectors include residential, renewables, and minerals & waste industries.
You will collaborate with protected species, BNG, botanical specialists, project and people managers, and others, enabling you to drive your career forward as you wish.
Your responsibilities include leading and delivering high-quality ecological assessments, surveys, and mitigation strategies, working with a team of approximately 60 ecologists in Derby and 120 across the UK, along with landscape architects, arboriculturists, and environmental planners.
What you\’ll need to succeed
- At least a degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- A proven track record in managing and delivering ecological projects of various scales, meeting deadlines.
- Experience in ecological consultancy, including conducting surveys, assessments, report writing, and project management.
- Strong knowledge of UK ecology legislation, guidelines, and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills for effective stakeholder collaboration.
- Experience advising clients on Biodiversity Net Gain, understanding DEFRA\’s Biodiversity Metric, and producing relevant reports and plans.
- Ecological specialisms or protected species licences are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Membership or eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM).
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
