Spencer Clarke Group are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join one of our private clients in one of their private hospitals based in the Wellington area. The site includes a range of low and medium secure mental health inpatient services, including both male and female along with LD+A wards. Managing complex cases, creating care plans and therapies for each service user's unique needs, and providing advice on evidence-based treatment and efficacy are some of the main duties of a consultant psychiatrist. Depending on the service user cohort, you may have a caseload that spans many wards, with a caseload of roughly 15 to 20 inpatients.

What you'll do:

  • Together with the MDT, adopting total accountability for patient treatment plans.
  • Attend morning handover.
  • Evaluating referrals to decide if they are appropriate for admission.
  • Completing the necessary research, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Taking part in clinical audits, ward visits, and quality-improvement initiatives.
  • Charing and overseeing CPA reviews.
  • Participating in clinical governance and ensuring the implementation of policies and protocols.
  • Writing and overseeing a variety of reports, such as those for the Managers' Hearings and the Mental Health Tribunal and attending hearings.

What we're looking for:

  • Full GMC registration.
  • AC and section 12(2) approved.
  • Have the ability to lead and work within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • MRCPsych or equivalent.
  • To be on the Specialty Register for Forensic Psychiatry or General Psychiatry with forensic experience.
  • To be good CPD standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and to have had an appraisal within the last year.
