Job Description:
St George\’s University NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a consultant in Infection to join our friendly and vibrant department. The Infection department at St George\’s is a great place to work with a dynamic and innovative team where microbiology, virology, infectious diseases, HIV, and academics work closely together, in conjunction with NHS South West London Pathology (SWLP).
The appointee will join a team committed to providing excellent clinical care for patients with infection-related problems. St George\’s hosts SWLP, which provides pathology services to four major acute Trusts and one of the largest NHS microbiology services in England, with significant recent investments in molecular diagnostics. The role offers flexibility, including options to develop services in clinical virology, infections in pregnancy, renal and haematology infections, immunocompromised patient services, and education and training programs. There is also potential for academic sessions at the university.
The post involves shared responsibilities for managing a comprehensive infection service and training programs for trainees in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology/Virology. The detailed job responsibilities and requirements are outlined in the job description document.

Job responsibilities
The basic job plan comprises 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), with duties tailored to the candidate\’s experience and interests. Participation in microbiology on-call rotas includes additional payments. Two PAs are allocated for SPA, including CPD, training, and management duties.

Qualifications
- FRCPath or equivalent
- Full GMC registration and license to practice (or eligible within six months of interview)
- Certificate of Completion of Training in Virology or Infectious Diseases and Virology or ID/MMV (or evidence of UK CCT equivalence)
- Recognized management qualification
- Higher research degree or experience
- Recognized teaching qualification
- Diploma in HIV Medicine
- Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene
- MRCP or equivalent
