Clinical Nurse Specialist - Gynae-Oncology, London

There is an exciting career opportunity for a highly motivated and suitably experienced nurse to join the team of Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist at Guys and St Thomas' Hospital within the gynae-oncology services. Gynae-Oncology is part of the Cancer and Surgery Clinical Group with an aim of bringing excellent, high-quality care to patients during their cancer journey. The post holder will be expected to have a knowledge of cancer pathways, gynaecology experience and a passion to holistically support patients from the moment of diagnosis. The CNS team work closely with the medical team and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive the best care possible. A high level of communication skills is key to being successful in this role. The successful candidate will enjoy and have the ability to work within a team and autonomously when needed. • The main duties of the role include working autonomously to manage a caseload of patients and provide advice, support and expertise through a patient's investigations, diagnosis and treatment.
• The post holder will work along with the multidisciplinary team whilst delivering personalised care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:

The post holder will work within a team of Gynae-oncology clinical nurse specialists, self-managing time to attend clinics, complete ward rounds and attend MDMs. Patients can access the service via a CNS helpline in which calls and concerns are prioritised and attended to. Maintaining relationships with patients and colleagues is essential and providing specialist advice and knowledge.

Person specification:

Demonstration of trust values.

• Evidence of teaching skills in particular teaching patients in how to manage their conditions and raise their awareness of their condition.
• Ability to clinically lead & influence staff.
• Ability to interpret and analyse complex data and findings.

Extensive experience of working autonomously at an advanced level within the specialist area delivering effective patient focused care.

BSC/1st degree (health related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience. Post registration qualification in appropriate area of speciality or equivalent post qualification experience. (Oncology/Gynae Experience) To have or working towards a non-medical physical assessment course.
