Location: Hybrid Working – 2 / 3 days on site in Leamington Spa

About the Company:
I am currently recruiting on behalf of a client who creates exceptional cars that blend British elegance with ferocious intelligence to forge a new legacy, forever. Having offices in Leamington Spa and Shalford, Surrey, they are looking for a Chassis Project Engineer – Wheels And Tyres to join their team on a rolling contract basis.
42 hours per week, outside IR35.
Job Summary:
- The Chassis Project Engineer – Wheels and Tyres Specialist will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and integration of wheel and tire systems into vehicle chassis.
- This role will focus on optimizing performance, safety, and durability, ensuring that wheels and tires meet the dynamic requirements of the vehicle and comply with industry standards and regulations.
- The engineer will work cross-functionally with other teams to integrate these systems into the overall vehicle architecture and manage projects from concept to production.
Design and Development:
- Lead the design and development of wheel and tire systems, including selecting and specifying tire sizes, profiles, load ratings, and materials.
- Develop wheel designs that meet strength, weight, and aesthetic requirements while also considering factors like aerodynamics, cost, and manufacturability.
- Integrate wheels and tires into the overall chassis design, ensuring compatibility with suspension systems, braking systems, and overall vehicle dynamics.
- Work closely with suppliers to source and develop new materials, tire compounds, and technologies.
Vehicle Dynamics and Performance:
- Collaborate with the vehicle dynamics team to optimize wheel and tire performance, including handling, ride comfort, stability, and traction.
- Perform simulations and analysis to understand the impact of different wheel and tire combinations on vehicle performance, including cornering, braking, and acceleration.
- Conduct detailed analysis on the effect of tire pressure, tread patterns, and compounds on vehicle dynamics under different driving conditions.
