The University of Edinburgh is seeking to appoint a Manager for the newly established EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Quantum Informatics. The successful candidate will join the School of Informatics Student Services, providing leadership and support to students and academic staff involved in the programme. You will work within an experienced Graduate School team overseeing several other CDT programmes, collaborating closely with the CDT Director and Business Development Manager. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee all aspects of a new CDT, develop recruitment and administrative processes, and build relationships with external partners, including Oxford, Strathclyde, Heriot-Watt Universities, and UCL.

Your Skills and Attributes for Success:

  • Completion of a degree or equivalent training, plus relevant experience, or substantial vocational experience demonstrating development through increasing responsibilities.
  • Experience in planning and managing multi-year projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing and monitoring budgets.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, self-management, motivation, initiative, and drive.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including interpreting policies and procedures, identifying gaps, and implementing processes.
  • Outstanding organizational skills with attention to detail and time management.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills with staff at all levels, including senior management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students of diverse nationalities, advising on complex administrative and financial matters.
  • Experience in gathering, interpreting, and presenting data to identify improvement actions.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Management and/or project management qualification and/or financial training.
  • Knowledge of postgraduate research programme administration practices and procedures.
  • Experience within higher education, especially in postgraduate research student administration.
  • Experience managing a team, with mentoring, coaching, and motivating abilities.
  • Experience in CDT programme management or administration.
  • Experience coordinating across multiple Schools and Universities.
  • Experience developing initiatives to support student wellbeing and engagement.
  • Experience overseeing collaborations with industry and university partners.
