BIM Coordinator Role

The BIM Coordinator supports and coordinates the management and creation of digital information across projects. This interdisciplinary role ensures that data flows according to standard BIM methodology, working closely with BIM managers, specialists, and construction teams to establish and maintain BIM workflows, resolve coordination issues, and support interface parties and supply chains.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in project delivery from technical design to construction, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Implement best practices and consistent processes, liaising with stakeholders and the supply chain.
• Manage quality processes for all deliverables, including information exchange and conversion.
• Utilise Bentley ProjectWise, OpenBuilding Designer, and MicroStation for detailed 3D CAD modeling and documentation, ensuring model coordination and clash avoidance.
• Coordinate with discipline BIM leads to optimize clash results using suppression rules.
• Support the production of high-quality 3D CAD models and construction drawings, ensuring integration with overall project information models.
• Produce model geometry and information aligned with the Component Catalogue and BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
• Ensure submitted models meet project requirements, with systems in place for clash detection and internal audits.
• Collaborate with BIM Coordinators, Managers, and project teams to implement deliverables and resolve issues.
• Maintain the project\’s ProjectWise Common Data Environment, ensuring accurate information flow and data management.
• Participate in quality assurance checks to meet project standards and employer requirements.
• Monitor compliance with the BEP and contribute to reporting on BIM deliverables.
• Work with other disciplines to ensure efficient model integration and coordination, attending regular meetings.
• Provide technical support and guidance on BIM-related issues to project team members.

Qualifications:

• Essential:
• Experience with Bentley iTwin Design Review, ProjectWise, OpenBuilding Designer, MicroStation
• Minimum 3 years\’ experience in major infrastructure/transportation projects as a BIM Modeller
• Experience working in an engineering production environment
• Background in railway, transportation, or construction is preferred
• Familiarity with UK BIM Standards (BS1192, ISO 19650)
