An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced registered nurse to join our team of senior staff nurse on Stephen Ward.
Stephen Ward is a 33 bedded cardiology ward in St Thomas’ Hospital London. We care for patients with complex cardiology needs. We are a friendly and supportive team who are resourceful and strive to always deliver a high standard of patient care, while constantly developing new ways to improve patients’ experience. We are proud of the excellent feedback we have from our patients.

Main duties of the job
The post requires applicant to have excellent communication skills to manage a wide range of relationships with colleagues, patients and their families. To have emotional resilience, a calm temperament and the ability to work under pressure, demonstrate excellent clinical nursing and a willingness to learn and develop new skills and strive to provide the highest quality care for patients and their relatives.
The applicant must have the relevant cardiology knowledge and skill necessary to support the team. The applicant must also be able to recognise and act upon emergency cardiac rhythms.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the band 6 senior Staff Nurse role on Stephen Ward includes supporting the nursing and multidisciplinary workforce in contributing to delivering high standards of clinical leadership, and committed to excellent standard of patient care.
Able to interpret 12 lead ECG and recognise cardiac emergencies and to act appropriately to maintain the health and well-being of the patient.
Responsible for assessing and recognising emergencies in the specialty. Supporting and leading the team in adhering to areas of compliance and governance. Provide leadership, support and guidance to staff in monitoring the planning and delivering of patient care.
Deputising in the absence of the ward Manager.

Experience
- Previous post registration experience within the relevant specialty.
Qualifications and Professional/ Statutory Registration
- RN1/ RN2/ RN12 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register. To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality.
- Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical, managerial training and CPD.
- BSC/1st degree (health related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience.
- Mentorship/Teaching Qualification.
