What We Need

Hangar 13 is looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join our backend team developing server side features for AAA Games.

What you will do

1. Contribute to existing backend projects written in Go and C++.
2. Collaborate with designers and engineers to design backend solutions for AAA Games.
3. Work with the lead backend engineer on strategic solutions for future AAA Game releases.
4. Collaborate with game developers to integrate online features into game clients.
5. Work with open source and proprietary software technologies to fulfill backend project technical requirements.
6. Identify and overcome technical and developmental risks and obstacles.
7. Develop solutions using industry standard methodologies, including test driven development, continuous integration and continuous deployment.

Who you are

1. Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, or a relevant Engineering field.
2. Solid experience designing robust, commitment, scalable systems using Go, C++, or Java.
3. Knowledge of relational and non-relational data storage solutions and associated schema design.
4. Experience deploying and managing server components on Linux.
5. A strong commitment to code quality, documentation, and software development standard processes.
6. Good knowledge of software design fundamentals and principles.
7. Ability to learn and master new technologies and supporting infrastructure.
8. Ability to work proactively, autonomously, and efficiently under deadlines.
9. Experience with industry standard tools (Git, IDEs, CI/CD, etc.).
10. Exposure to at least one cloud provider’s infrastructure (GCP, AWS, etc.).

Nice to have

1. Experience using Docker and Kubernetes.
2. Exposure to web based UI frameworks (e.g. React, Angular) or an interest to learn such technologies.
3. Experience with real-time multiplayer peer to peer or client-server communications.
4. Shipped one or more game titles.
