Vice President, Software Development Engineer (SDE) Asset & Wealth Management Division

Role Overview
This role offers the opportunity to work with and lead a competitive & nimble team of engineers building and supporting the firm’s direct to consumer deposits business. Candidates will work directly with a variety of stakeholders, including the product organization/team, UX & visual design team and various engineering teams across the division to build and enhance the state of the art, industry leading, & best in class online and phone banking platform.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing and creating API based web services using Java and leading open source and industry standard technology frameworks. The individual will be able to operate in an Agile environment and oversee the full life cycle development for the services, working with development, DevOps, BA, PM and QA teams following the Agile/SCRUM methodology.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a global cross functional team in building customer-centric products
- Facilitate requirements gathering sessions and be able to translate business needs into proper solutions
- Participate with architecture team in technical evaluations, solution and design approaches discussions
- Design, build, test, and deploy highly scalable, high-volume web services following a traditional REST API model
- Perform code reviews and mentor other team members on the proper approaches to web services development
- Lead and direct standard software development guidelines and best practices
- Provides objective advice, expertise and specialist support skills with the aim of creating value and maximizing growth or improving the business performance of their clients.
- Ensures that development activities are on a path to deliver benefits realization.
- Ensures collaboration with key functional partners in the implementation of initiatives.
- Readily recognizes solution and determines at what point issues require escalation to leadership
- Analyze existing software to identify areas of improvement and provide estimates for implementing new features
- Manage multiple tasks and use sound judgment when prioritizing
- Participate in user story refinement, technical design, code reviews and the team’s Agile process
Technical Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent industry experience
- 7+ of relevant professional experience
- Experience with Java 8+ in all phases of development
- Hands on development background and recent experience developing and implementing Java based web services
- Experience with microservices architecture and REST API development
- Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
- Experience with AWS Cloud Platform (EC2, ECS, APIGW, Route53, S3)
- Experience with major open-source tools and frameworks such as Spring Boot, Docker, and Hibernate
- Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases
- Experience with build and development tools like Gradle and Maven
- Experience with Linux / Unix environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and applying them to improve our products
- Ability to establish trusted partnerships with cross functional team members, product owners, and executive level stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- An understanding of common application architecture design patterns
- Experience working in an Agile environment
