An opportunity to join a growing service team that covers a wide variety of industries and technologies. The Automation Service Engineer (EICA – Electrical Instrumentation Controls Automation) role is home-based/remote, responsible for providing rota-based, 24/7 remote and onsite support to a multi-industry client base. Reporting to the Service Operations Manager, this role is key to the continued growth and expansion of our automation service capabilities.
Main Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of PLC/PC software applications for automation and diagnose faults using programming tools.
- Connect remotely to clients\’ PC/PLC/SCADA platforms, diagnose issues, and support unfamiliar applications to troubleshoot and resolve faults.
- Perform PC health checks, replace hard drives, backup and restore applications, and survey automation systems to provide risk and upgrade reports.
- Make minor modifications to PLC code and systems, including changing PLC cards, identifying and rectifying coding issues, and reading code to move sequences.
- Support the sales team with technical solutions and estimates by selecting and specifying PLC/HMI/SCADA hardware and software.
- Observe production sequences to suggest improvements, reduce failure rates, increase productivity, and identify root causes of failures and repairs.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control Systems, or a relevant discipline, or completion of an engineering apprenticeship.
- Experience in commissioning and/or maintenance roles, with fault-finding skills across multiple PLC manufacturers such as Siemens, Rockwell, Omron, Schneider, Mitsubishi.
- Understanding of electrical systems and experience with Siemens, Rockwell, Omron PLC systems.
- Ability to connect to OS networks using tools like Profitrace for network health diagnostics and reporting.
- Eligibility to attain security clearances such as SC and CTC.
