Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated Associate Principal Scientist, with significant experience in antibody engineering and leading early drug discovery projects, to support our therapeutic discovery pipeline through the innovative use of AstraZeneca’s world-class antibody discovery technologies.

Business Area
The Biologics Engineering team is responsible for discovering and optimizing biological candidate drugs to support various therapy pipelines and developing in-house biologics discovery platforms and novel drug modalities.
Responsibilities
You will drive biologics drug delivery from early discovery to candidate nomination, working with multidisciplinary teams. You will lead projects involving large molecules like antibodies, sdAb, peptides, etc., especially in AZ’s CVRM portfolio, managing pipeline projects and pre-project target validation.
Essential Qualifications
- PhD with proven experience or BSc/higher degree with extensive antibody and protein engineering experience.
- Leadership in early drug project management for large molecules.
- Deep knowledge of large molecule modalities such as mAb, Bi/Multispecifics, VH, VHH.
- Design and execution of antibody isolation and optimization campaigns.
- Understanding of genotype/phenotype relationships in antibodies.
- Experience with molecular biology techniques like PCR, cloning, mutagenesis, and sequence analysis.
- Ability to analyze large data sets, troubleshoot, and maintain high-quality records.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with bioinformatics tools like Geneious Prime.
- Experience with NGS, computational methods, and machine learning in antibody design.
- Experience working with non-standard antibody conjugates such as ADCs.
