Overview

Role Purpose: This role supports the Product Design and Execution of an Innovation Strategy, which can be for a specific Segment or a Cluster.

Business Impact: This role is essential for the successful delivery of consumer-led innovation (NPD, EPD) and maintaining the existing product portfolio. It ensures continued consumer delight, relevance, and competitiveness in a changing world.

Responsibilities

1. Develop R&D programmes with the consumer in mind.
2. Ensure all product development is based on consumer needs.
3. Show curiosity about consumer habits, practices, usage, needs, and preference drivers within the allocated product area.
4. Monitor the category landscape, conduct benchmarking, and report insights to influence product/category direction.

Product Development

1. Understand key ingredients and manipulate recipes to meet consumer needs.
2. Review and suggest recipe changes during portfolio reviews.
3. Appreciate manufacturing processes and suggest improvements for product quality and efficiency.
4. Design scientific trials to ensure positive outcomes.
5. Build relationships with external supply base, co-packers, and third parties.

Technical Project Management

1. Understand the innovation process and project manage simple technical workstreams (NPD/EPD).
2. Utilize data to make recommendations and design trials.
3. Manage stakeholder relationships effectively.

Qualifications

1. Relevant Science Degree or experience in an FMCG product development/Technical role.
2. Interest in understanding and anticipating consumer behavior.
3. Experience in concept development and rapid prototyping.
4. Experience in designing and performing simple bench-scale or factory trials.
