Your new role

We are recruiting an Assistant Delivery Manager within the Digital Services Directorate on a 9-month fixed term contract basis.

You can be based from any of our UK office locations. You will be required to attend the Birmingham office around once a fortnight for face-to-face meetings. We have a hybrid working approach, combining office and home working.

As Assistant Delivery Manager, you will work as part of a team to plan, monitor, and control all aspects of Digital Services projects and programmes. The post holder may support a Lead Delivery Manager or a Programme Office Manager.

This role focuses on delivery, planning, RAID (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies), change control, document management, reporting, and progress evaluation. Responsibilities will vary over time, aligned with the specific project or programme of work.

What you’ll be leading on

  • Manage aspects such as the plan, budget, governance, health & safety of small-scale IT projects across their lifecycle to achieve business and strategic benefits, while managing contract compliance and risk effectively.
  • Support delivery teams in maintaining accurate and complete project and programme data, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Assist Programme Leaders in driving delivery against the plan, resolving issues, and being accountable for actions.
  • Support the Finance Manager in maintaining financial records, forecasts, and ensuring spend compliance.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and other Directorates to ensure programmes/projects deliver value and benefits during and after delivery.

To be successful you’ll need

  • Qualifications and/or experience in Programme Management Office or Project Management.
  • Knowledge of Project and Programme Management methodologies and controls.
  • Experience with internal finance systems (e.g., PFP) and understanding of financial procedures is advantageous.
  • Ability to facilitate team delivery, manage risks and dependencies, and maintain momentum.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate technical information for diverse stakeholders and facilitate multidisciplinary discussions.
