Who are we looking for? We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded Assistant Category Manager with a passion for retail and strategic thinking. About the role (External)
About the team: We are a team of Retail experts who drive sales and income by making our stations destination stations. You will be working within this small team of 5 Category managers to continually improve our station retail environment.
Retail is our passion, bringing trusted and new brands to the station portfolio, we currently have 145+ brands operating within our 19 managed stations, and have visits from over 700 million customers per year.
What does the average day look like? In this role, you will drive strategic initiatives, conduct market research, and secure competitive commercial terms. You will play a key part in achieving sales and income targets, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and streamlining tenant coordination from enquiry to onboarding. As the main point of contact for Pop-Ups, you will build strong partnerships, manage marketing content, and develop a seasonal openings calendar to enhance the customer experience. With a focus on efficiency and compliance, you will also maintain process maps to ensure fairness and consistency across all operations.
- Proven experience in a retail management role.
- Evidence of meeting profit targets within a competitive environment.
- Knowledge of retail operations, merchandising and store development.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrable experience of successfully supporting the delivery of projects.
- Experience of working within a large, complex and fast-moving organisation.
- Ability to support strategic decision-making with strong analytical skills (experience with sales data, market research, and benchmarking is a plus).
- Significant experience of using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Experience of the retail property market.
- Travel retail experience from either airport or transport hub.
