Job Description

This role involves identifying and shaping air traffic requirements within the business; leading a team to partner with NATS and other stakeholders to develop and implement concepts with compelling business plans; and overseeing the development of solutions from initial concept to final deployment, ensuring they fulfill business objectives in service of safety, environment, or service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Proactively ensure that HAL Programme Direction, Solutions Leadership Team, and wider senior leadership have a clear understanding of evolving ATM projects, environmental obligations, and best practice approaches worldwide.
  2. Create, lead, manage, and deliver ATM or Airspace projects.
  3. Represent the solutions business requirements to ensure effective delivery of capital projects or operational initiatives on time and within budget.
  4. Build, maintain, and influence relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including NATS, airlines, CAA, and DfT.
  5. Act as the point of contact for CAA regarding all ATM change matters.
  6. Provide line management and leadership for direct reports.
  7. Lead procurement and contracted organizations or personnel related to relevant projects.
  8. Advise and support HAL Operations and Solutions leadership on opportunities, risks, and actions to drive business outcomes.

Minimum Requirements and Skills:

  • Detailed knowledge of ATC, ATM, and airspace change, including policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Air Traffic Management activities relevant to safe operations at UK airports.
  • Strong leadership skills to ensure stakeholder outcomes meet regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Excellent team leadership abilities, capable of delivering independently and managing others.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, influencing, negotiating, and communication skills, supported by strategic and creative thinking.
  • Experience leading projects and project management processes.
  • High-level exposure to political and governmental processes related to aviation policy development.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
