Account Director Job Description

The Account Director is responsible for working directly with key customers to enhance their overall experience with HireRight, focusing on customer retention, product and service optimization, and ensuring that customers order services aligned with expectations and sales commitments. The role primarily manages enterprise-level customers, including multi-national accounts with broad product usage, typically generating annual revenue between $700k and $3MM.

Responsibilities

  1. Manage the overall customer relationship, including communications, expectations, stakeholder relationships, sponsorship, and governance.
  2. Establish a trusted adviser relationship to ensure customer satisfaction with our products and services.
  3. Act as a liaison between internal teams and customers, communicating features, processes, roadmaps, and their impact on customer activities. Develop account success plans outlining critical success factors, metrics, key stakeholders, potential issues, trends, and provide recommendations.
  4. Coordinate with Implementation Services for smooth transitions during initial or re-implementations.
  5. Monitor and facilitate customer adoption of services and time to revenue.
  6. Leverage customer relationships for advocacy, user groups, case studies, and references.
  7. Keep customers informed of procedural changes.
  8. Identify opportunities for optimization to ensure the customer utilizes appropriate features and services based on their risk profile.
  9. Continuously gauge the customer\’s business health through analytics, KPIs, and meetings.
  10. Ensure customers access all available materials, training, and communications.
  11. Understand the competitive landscape within the customer organization.
  12. Navigate internal resources within HireRight to ensure positive engagement and loyalty.
  13. Operate effectively within a global, matrix environment.
  14. Mentor Key Account Managers and Senior Key Account Managers.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of account management or sales experience in a large company (1,000+ employees) managing complex, large accounts.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Deep knowledge of a technical discipline or area.
  • Basic understanding of internal relationships within the company.
  • Clear understanding of roles within the relevant area.

Scope of Impact

  • May lead small project teams, manage risks, and resources.
  • Provide advice to middle management on functional matters and policy interpretation.
  • Monitor project costs and manage budgets for small projects or programs.
  • Potentially train professional staff.

Strategic Planning

  • Identify and adapt solutions to complex or undefined problems.
  • Resolve complex issues with innovative perspectives.
  • Make decisions based on interpretive thinking and judgment, developing solutions from facts and principles.

Customer Focus

  • Anticipate and respond to customer needs by adjusting practices accordingly.
  • Communicate effectively, tailoring style to the audience.
  • Persuade others to adopt ideas and initiatives.
