Bookkeeper - Growing, Friendly Accountancy Practice

Seaford, East Sussex

Full time, permanent (will consider 4 days a week)

Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum, depending on experience

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Bookkeeper or Accounts Assistant to join a small, supportive accountancy practice where everyone works closely as a team. The role is varied and hands-on, ideal for someone who enjoys moving between different clients and tasks throughout the day and wants to build on their experience in practice.

  • Day-to-day bookkeeping, including accounts payable and receivable
  • Reconciling bank accounts and credit card statements
  • Maintaining accurate financial records across various accounting software packages
  • Assisting clients over the telephone with bookkeeping queries
  • Working closely with the wider accounts, payroll and admin teams

What we are looking for

  • The ideal candidate will have gained experience of working in an accountancy firm but candidates from industry who can demonstrate a flexible approach, a strong work ethic and a proactive, "can-do" attitude will also be considered.
  • Studying towards or completed AAT
  • Strong understanding of Xero
  • Knowledge of other systems such as QuickBooks, FreeAgent, Sage and Client Engager is highly desirable
  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping and basic accounting principles
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Confident communicator who enjoys working as part of a small, friendly team
