We're currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join a growing and forward-thinking SME based in Maidstone. This is a temporary role with an immediate start, offering a long-term 3-month contract with the opportunity to go permanent for the right person. The Role
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you'll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Receivable
- Record and allocate income across systems
- Respond to customer queries
- Set up new customer accounts
- Perform daily reconciliations
- Prepare and reconcile weekly Direct Debit uploads
- Issue customer statements as required
- Reconcile supplier statements
- Support subcontractor/data provider reconciliations
- Process ad hoc invoices
- Manage monthly credit card reconciliations
- Perform referral reconciliations and checks
- Raise monthly accruals
- Prepare subcontractor reports
- Assist with prepayments, accruals, and month-end journals
- Support external audit requests
- Assist with internal requests and reporting
- Maintain accurate financial data entry
- Manage shared finance inbox and respond to queries
- Provide ad hoc support to the Head of Finance
About You
- Strong technical accounting knowledge
- Proven experience in both Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Advanced Excel skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Confident using accounting software
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Flexible and willing to support across multiple finance functions
- Must be a driver due to location
