Role Summary

TMT Finance, the leading intelligence platform for global Digital Infrastructure M&A and financing, is seeking a visionary Head of Data to lead the next phase of our data strategy and operations. This high-impact leadership role is at the intersection of finance, technology, and infrastructure – where your work will directly shape how the world’s top dealmakers’ access and use proprietary data.

You’ll be at the forefront of transforming our business into a fully data-driven operation, embedding high-value datasets – including M&A, debt and equity financing, and company intelligence – into the core of our products. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you’ll drive innovation, solve complex client challenges, and unlock new commercial opportunities through data.

This is a rare opportunity to lead from the front and shape data as a strategic growth engine. Reporting to our Chief Content Officer and joining the senior leadership team, you’ll oversee a talented offshore team of 12 researchers and data analysts, collaborating with our Head of Product to drive innovation and deliver data-led solutions that meet the evolving needs of our global clients. We’re looking for a strategic thinker who combines vision with execution, brings strong leadership and commercial acumen, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

TMT Finance’s editorial team is trusted by senior executives and dealmakers for its deep sector insight and exclusive, off-the-record intelligence and analysis on complex, market-defining M&A and financing deals. Our in-house data team powers this with proprietary datasets across M&A, debt and equity financing, IPOs, company performance, league tables, and market trends.

Responsibilities

• Data Strategy & Vision: Own and execute a long-term data strategy aligned with commercial and product goals, clearly communicating priorities and progress across teams.
• Product Innovation: Partner with the Head of Product to build and scale core data products – including transaction, investment, and company databases, as well as predictive tools.
• Data Expansion & Enrichment: Identify and develop high-value datasets using proven aggregation methods and domain expertise to meet evolving client needs.
• Tech Integration: Collaborate with our full-stack development agency to implement new datasets, features, and visualisations that enhance user experience and functionality.
• Feature Development & Automation: Deliver innovative data features and aggregation methods using cutting-edge technologies to improve efficiency and insight.
• Client Experience & Workflow: Define how clients interact with our data across platforms (API, dashboards, UX/UI), contributing to commercial strategy and product design.
• Monetisation Strategy: Work with the Chief Revenue Officer and commercial teams to optimise data monetisation models, including usage tiers and licensing.
• Team Leadership: Lead and grow our India-based research and data team (12 people), with regular travel to Mumbai and a focus on coaching, development, and scaling.
• Data Architecture & Governance: Establish a unified data lake and implement best-in-class governance, tooling, and quality control processes.
• Editorial Collaboration: Work closely with the Editorial team to integrate data, analysis, and visualisations into content and reports aligned with client needs.
• Client Insight & Engagement: Gain a deep understanding of user behaviour and feedback through regular client engagement, shaping data strategy around real-world needs.
• Stakeholder Communication: Provide clear, consistent updates and communicate the data vision across all levels of the organisation.

What We’re Looking For

Experience & Expertise:

• 10+ years in business intelligence, finance, or infrastructure, with a strong track record in developing and commercialising data products.
• Deep understanding of financial transactions (M&A, financing) is essential; broader capital markets and infrastructure experience is a plus.
• 5+ years leading offshore data teams (preferably in India).
• Technical fluency in data platforms, CMS, and custom infrastructure (e.g., Drupal).
• Experience in scale-up environments and investment/exit readiness.

• Collaborative, cross-functional leadership style with strong decision-making skills.
• Ability to bring structure and best practices to a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
• Proven success in building and motivating distributed teams.

• Background in subscription-based intelligence platforms serving the investment community.
