TMS Grid is a growing UK power and renewable energy business delivering electrical infrastructure and EPC/ICP solutions across the energy sector, including grid connections, HV/LV infrastructure, solar and BESS projects.

About the Role

This is a key appointment for TMS Grid. We are looking for an experienced Quality Manager who can hit the ground running, assess our current position, identify what needs to change and take action. This is not a role for someone who needs to be developed into a Quality Manager or who is primarily focused on maintaining paperwork. We need someone who has already done the job, understands what good quality management looks like and has the confidence and experience to implement it. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the way quality is managed across TMS Grid.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and improving the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
  • Establishing clear and effective quality processes and standards.
  • Reviewing quality arrangements across live projects and identifying weaknesses, risks and areas for improvement.
  • Developing and maintaining Project Quality Plans, ITPs and appropriate inspection and testing arrangements.
  • Managing NCRs, defects, root cause analysis and corrective actions through to effective closure.
  • Leading internal audits and supporting ISO, client and external audits.
  • Monitoring project quality, workmanship, materials, documentation and compliance.
  • Working closely with Project Managers, Design, Procurement, Construction and site teams to prevent quality issues rather than simply reacting to them.
  • Managing quality requirements and performance across suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Working closely with the Design Manager on design-related quality matters.
  • Establishing meaningful quality KPIs and providing clear reporting to senior management.
  • Identifying recurring issues and implementing practical improvements.
  • Driving a culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement across the business.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' recent, proven experience operating as a Quality Manager, Senior Quality Manager or equivalent.
  • Proven experience managing and improving a Quality Management System.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001.
  • Experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure, power, utilities, energy or a similar project-based environment.
  • Strong QA/QC experience.
  • Experience managing NCRs, defects, audits and corrective actions.
  • Experience working across multiple projects.
  • Experience dealing with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Demonstrable evidence of improving quality performance.
  • Confident challenging poor practice and holding people accountable.
  • Able to make decisions and act without unnecessary delay.
  • Experience in power, renewable energy, HV/LV, grid connections, solar or BESS would be highly advantageous.

Required Skills

  • Experienced – You have already operated successfully at Quality Manager level.
  • Hands-on – You are prepared to get into projects and understand what is actually happening.
  • Decisive – You identify what needs to be done and act.
  • Confident – You can challenge people at all levels when standards are not being met.
  • Practical – You understand that quality systems need to work in the real world.
  • Solutions-focused – You don't just identify problems; you resolve them.
  • Improvement-focused – You want to leave the business better than you found it.

Preferred Skill

  • Experience in power, renewable energy, HV/LV, grid connections, solar or BESS would be highly advantageous.
