An excellent opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Assistant to join an established manufacturing business based in Birmingham. This is a busy, hands-on purchasing role responsible for managing purchase and subcontract orders from initial PO through to delivery. You’ll work closely with suppliers to maintain material availability, resolve potential delays and ensure production requirements are met. The role would suit someone with experience in purchasing, procurement, expediting or supply chain who enjoys supplier interaction and working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What will you do as a Materials & Purchasing Coordinator?
- Raise and manage purchase and subcontract orders from MRP requirements through to final delivery
- Monitor stock levels, reorder requirements and material availability to support production
- Proactively chase suppliers, confirm delivery dates and resolve delays or supply issues
- Negotiate pricing, lead times and delivery terms to achieve best value
- Maintain accurate ERP records, process purchase receipts and resolve invoice discrepancies
- Monitor supplier OTIF and WIP, providing updates to planning, manufacturing and internal teams
What do you need as a Materials & Purchasing Coordinator?
- Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, buying, expediting or supply chain
- Manufacturing or production experience would be advantageous
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems, ideally Dynamics NAV or Business Central
- Strong supplier communication and negotiation skills
- Proactive, solution focused with excellent organisation/attention to detail
- Able to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment
