An opportunity has arisen for a Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to join a well-established and growing SME within the manufacturing sector. This is a hands-on, varied role within a small finance team, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the accounts function. The successful candidate will work closely with the Directors, taking responsibility for core bookkeeping activities while also contributing to wider finance operations across the business. The role offers exposure across the full finance cycle where accuracy, initiative, and a proactive approach are key.

What will you do as a Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant?
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping and day-to-day finance operations
- Oversee accounts payable/receivable functions, including end-to-end credit control
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements and compliance deadlines
- Produce monthly cash flow forecasts, budgets, and management accounts
- Payroll activities including PAYE, NIC submissions, and associated reporting requirements
- Support Directors with accurate financial reporting and commercial insights
What do you need as a Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant?
- Previous experience in a Bookkeeper, Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
- Experience using Sage 50 or similar accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage workload effectively within a small team environment
