We are looking for a Learning and Development Advisor to join our Corporate Learning and Development Team. You will design, deliver and evaluate learning across three key areas: corporate policies and strategies, soft skills development, and leadership capability. Your work will support colleagues’ development and help deliver the council’s long-term workforce priorities. About you

You will be an experienced learning and development practitioner with strong facilitation skills and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels. You will have proven experience designing and delivering learning in corporate policy, soft skills and leadership, ensuring content is engaging, inclusive and aligned with organisational needs. You will take a creative, flexible approach to developing learning, adapting to different learning styles and promoting equality and accessibility. You will also be confident in evaluating impact and using data and feedback to improve the learning offer. A customer-focused approach, high-quality delivery and the ability to create a positive learning environment are essential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Scope, co-design, facilitate and evaluate appropriate learning and development opportunities for employees at all levels within the council.
  • Work collaboratively to explore new and innovative learning methods that enhance engagement and value for money.
  • Quality assure learning materials and keep them up-to-date with changes to legislation, policy, procedures and working practices.
  • Deliver high-quality, customer-focused and engaging training sessions.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and accessible learning environment, making reasonable adjustments where required.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of learning and development best practice and relevant legal requirements.
  • Update and maintain HR and council systems to ensure information is accurate, secure and compliant with data protection legislation.
  • Complete evaluations after each intervention and share feedback reports with stakeholders.
  • Support senior leadership on wider programmes of work relating to learning and development.

For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to. If you are currently a casual worker or a member of an employment agency (currently working with Bristol City Council) this post will be a fixed term contract.

Additional Information

This is a full-time role, 37 hours per week and is a fixed term contract for 2 years. Your working days will be Monday – Friday.
