tml Partners are proud to be partnering with Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) in the search for a new Director of Marketing — a senior leadership role shaping the university’s next phase of brand, digital, and commercial growth.

CCCU is a modern, values-driven institution with a strong civic mission and an ambitious Vision 2030 strategy. Originally founded as a teacher training college, it has grown significantly since achieving full university status in 2005 and now serves over 30,000 students across Kent and Medway and through international partnerships.

Ranked 1st in the UK for graduate employability (2023) and within the top 10 nationally for teaching quality and student experience (Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026), CCCU has also more than doubled its world-leading research and quadrupled its impact since 2014.

The Director of Marketing will sit at the heart of the Marketing, Communications & Recruitment (MCR) leadership team, leading a cultural shift towards insight-led, digitally-optimised campaigns. We are seeking a commercially astute and visionary leader with the expertise to elevate brand positioning, drive student recruitment, and deliver measurable growth aligned to Vision 2030.

Key responsibilities:

  • Shape and lead CCCU’s marketing strategy to strengthen national and international reputation.
  • Drive growth in student recruitment, conversion, and growth across diverse markets.
  • Champion innovation and digital-first approaches, embedding data-driven decision-making.
  • Inspire and mentor agile, high-performing teams, fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Manage marketing budgets with accountability for income growth and financial sustainability.

We welcome applications from senior marketing leaders with experience in complex organisations. While higher education experience is beneficial, we are particularly interested in candidates from the private B2C who can bring fresh commercial insight and a strong track record of delivering growth.
