An exciting opportunity for a Family Lawyer to join a highly regarded and established firm of solicitors as they expand their family department further. The role would primarily be based at the firm\’s brand new family hub office in Hartlepool dealing with both a legally aided and privately funded caseload. The candidate must have Public Family Law experience within a working environment.
Role and Responsibilites:
- Run a caseload of either care proceedings work only or a mixed caseload covering a wide range of private and public family law matters including divorce, financial agreements, domestic violence, care proceedings, special guardianship and child arrangement orders.
- Conduct legal research and prepare relevant documentation including legal correspondence, court applications, bundles, statements and briefs to counsel.
- Communicate with clients, counsel and court personnel professionally and effectively.
- Maintain accurate and organised case files and documents.
- Keep up to date on changes and developments in family law practice and procedures.
Person requirements
- Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with at least 2 years experience in family law within a working environment.
- Public Family Law experience essential.
- Ability to run own caseload from start to finish with sound knowledge and a proven track record of providing legal advice and assistance in family law matters.
- Ability to conduct own advocacy both in the Magistrates\’ Court and County Court.
- Willing to work towards membership of the Law Society\’s Family Law or Children Law Accreditation Scheme or Resolution Accredited Specialist.
- Experience of using a case management system together with practical knowledge and use of IT systems including MS Word and Excel.
- Good verbal and written communication skills together with an organised and methodical approach to working with excellent attention to detail.
- A polite, cheerful attitude, particularly when meeting clients.
- A committed and self-motivated individual who can work as part of a professional, friendly team.
