Job Purpose
The Head of GEM is accountable for driving forward the GEM business for BII, in terms of growth, efficiencies, and providing strategic thought leadership to the direction of the business. Our Global Entity Business consists of various product lines that come together to serve the client’s needs, including but not limited to Company Secretarial Services, Regulatory Compliance, Fiduciary Services & SPV Management.
The individual will be responsible for the BII GEM P&L and supporting the Senior Leadership Team in local strategy development and implementation, ensuring client service delivery complies with all relevant regulatory and legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Fiduciary & Regulatory
- Board member of TMF Boards and entities within the affiliation and other committees of the Boards as required.
- Build and maintain a collaborative relationship with fellow Board and Committee members.
- Act as a director for client companies and representative for the trustee of clients’ trusts.
- Ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Fully understand the requirements of the Group’s business plan and ensure the service line works to achieve the Company’s stated objectives.
Clients
- Lead the delivery of services, meeting and continuously improving client service standards.
- Responsible for Client Satisfaction Ratings and driving periodic improvements.
- Facilitate cross-office client relationship management.
- Review all contentious and complex technical and/or servicing matters in conjunction with in-house SMEs.
- Undertake client service business plans including specific account plans and retention plans where appropriate.
- Identify key resources and investments necessary to underpin these plans.
Performance
- Overall responsibility for delivery of the GEM business’ target P&L and operational performance KPIs.
- Support the Market Heads and Market Co-Head of Delivery BII in local strategy development and implementation.
- Support the BII Commercial Directors in the development and implementation of growth plans.
- Keep up to date on legal/regulatory/tax-based developments or changes that could affect the GEM business and client base.
Operations
- Define and implement the best operations model for the BII business through strong analytical and planning skills.
- Implement the optimum balance of insourced and outsourced activity.
- Ensure strong controls are in place with adherence to relevant policies, operational procedures, and processes.
- Report on operational activity, and implement continuous improvement programmes and workflow planning.
- Drive quality and service level improvements.
- Explore and implement efficiency opportunities to improve profitability.
People
- Lead the GEM BII team, driving values, culture, and employee engagement.
- Ensure adequate resourcing and support recruitment activity.
- Oversee team development and succession planning.
Growth
- Develop new work from existing clients.
- New business development.
- Intermediary relationship programme.
- New product development.
- Generate Thought Leadership to clients and the market.
Risk & Compliance
- Ensure the GEM business is compliant with local regulations and laws.
- Work with the Head of Compliance, Risk, and Governance to implement, monitor, and enhance controls in the operation of the business.
- Continue to improve the quality of client data and standard of client files to comply with the local regulations.
Professional Experience and Qualifications
- Graduate in a relevant field and a professional qualification (e.g., ISCA, STEP, ACCA, IOD).
- Experience operating as a member of the Board of a regulated company preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of their subject area.
- Registered as a Principal Person with the JFSC or GFSC or equivalent in the UK and Ireland.
- Prior people management and leadership experience.
