You'll lead on animal and conservation storytelling for one of the UK's most loved wildlife charities. Producing content that supports press coverage, broadcast media, and other owned channels, including 2.3M highly engaged social media followers, this role shares Chester Zoo’s story with huge global audiences. Your content will frequently be seen by millions - all in service of our mission as a major conservation and education charity that’s working to prevent extinction.

The Role

  • Lead the direction, creation and delivery of animal and conservation content - including footfall-driving activity - while collaborating with departments across the zoo to support wider brand and commercial objectives.
  • Produce and edit high quality and impactful visual content - combining technical skill with a specialist understanding of how to adapt content for different channels and goals.
  • Provide scroll-stopping short form content for our social media channels, which reach large, international and diverse audiences.
  • Craft content for a range of other channels, including TV, online news and entertainment outlets.
  • Work to regular briefs while proactively identifying compelling stories from across the zoo, working with colleagues at all levels.
  • Help develop and deliver brand and social media campaigns, gathering insights to continuously elevate our content.
  • Supervise and mentor a Creative & Content Producer.

Qualifications

  • Expert shooting (videography and photography), editing and content creation skills using Adobe Premiere Pro, Lightroom, After Effects and Photoshop, or equivalents.
  • A strong track record of producing content across multiple channels, generating high levels of engagement among large online communities.
  • Excellent visual storytelling skills.
  • Proven experience in a dynamic and fast-paced role delivering content to multiple channels daily or weekly.
  • A relevant degree in media, communications and filmmaking, or equivalent track record in a similar role.
  • A confident self-producer with strong relationship building skills – comfortable directing colleagues on camera to get the best possible results.

Package

This is a predominantly Monday to Friday role, 8:30am–5pm, 40 hours per week. Because you'll be telling the stories of everything that happens here, much of the role is based at the zoo - but there's flexibility for hybrid working where the job allows, such as editing days. Weekend and evening work is occasionally required to cover production needs; time in lieu is provided.
