A leading construction contractor delivering high-specification industrial, manufacturing, and mission-critical facilities is seeking a Sustainability Lead to support projects across the East Midlands. The company is recognised for its technical excellence, collaborative culture, and genuine focus on sustainability across its operations.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a sustainability professional to play a key role in delivering complex, large-scale schemes within data centres, advanced manufacturing, logistics, and pharmaceutical sectors.

The Role:

As Sustainability Lead, you will be the primary sustainability contact on multiple construction projects across Leicester, Kettering, and Derby. You’ll advise on compliance, environmental performance, and key certifications such as BREEAM and LEED, helping ensure projects are delivered with sustainability embedded throughout.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead sustainability and environmental efforts across live construction sites
  • Provide technical input and guidance to project teams and subcontractors
  • Manage certification processes (BREEAM, LEED, WELL) from start to finish
  • Conduct site visits, maintain compliance documentation, and report on KPIs
  • Develop and deliver training to internal teams on ESG and environmental requirements
  • Collaborate with internal ESG leads to help deliver business-wide sustainability goals

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in environmental, sustainability, or ESG-related discipline
  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar sustainability/environmental role within construction
  • Solid understanding of BREEAM, LEED, and planning-related sustainability conditions
  • Confident communicator and stakeholder manager
  • Full UK driving licence – travel between sites required

Desirable (but not essential):

  • BREEAM AP / LEED AP
  • ISO14001 internal auditing experience
  • Member of a professional body (IEMA, IES, etc.)
