The Sines project is a hyperscale data centre development with complex groundworks, structural, and MEP interfaces.
The Temporary Works Manager (TWM) will have overall responsibility for the planning, design coordination, approval, implementation, inspection, and removal of all temporary works on a large-scale data centre project. The role is critical in ensuring temporary works are safe, compliant, coordinated, and fully integrated with the permanent works and construction programme.
- Act as the Temporary Works Manager in accordance with company procedures and relevant European standards
- Issue and manage Temporary Works Permits and formal handovers
- Coordinate with permanent works designers, temporary works designers, and subcontractors
- Ensure compatibility between temporary and permanent works, particularly around structural frames, foundations, slabs, and MEP installations
- Support construction teams during planning and execution of complex temporary works
- Monitor on-site installation to ensure works are built in accordance with approved designs and method statements
- Carry out regular inspections and audits of temporary works
- Ensure full compliance with EU regulations, Portuguese legislation, and project-specific HSEQ standards
- Lead risk assessments and method statement reviews related to temporary works
- Stop works where temporary works present safety or compliance risks
- Report temporary works status, risks, and constraints to the Project Director and Senior Management
Typical Temporary Works Scope (Data Centre Environment):
- Temporary propping and structural support
- Crane bases, lifting platforms, and heavy-lift temporary works
- Temporary access platforms, walkways, and edge protection
- Temporary works associated with MEP plant installation and commissioning
Proven experience as a Temporary Works Manager on large-scale construction projects
Strong background in heavy civil, structural, or data centre construction
Engineering qualification (Civil or Structural Engineering preferred)
Thorough knowledge of temporary works processes, design coordination, and site implementation
Experience working for a main contractor on complex, fast-track projects
Ability to work under pressure in a high-risk, high-value environment
