We’re working with a highly regarded main contractor to recruit a Pre-Construction Manager to join their growing team in Birmingham. With a strong pipeline of large-scale schemes ranging from £50m to £150m, this business is looking for a proven professional with a track record of delivering successful tenders and pre-construction strategies within the main contracting environment.
The Role
As Pre-Construction Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in early project engagement — leading tenders, coordinating design development, and ensuring robust pre-construction planning and cost control. Working closely with Estimators, Planners, Design Managers, and Commercial teams, you'll drive the conversion of opportunities into successful live projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead pre-construction activities from bid stage through to contract award
- Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure buildability, compliance, and commercial viability
- Review project specifications, identify risks, and develop mitigation strategies
- Lead value engineering exercises and client presentations
- Collaborate closely with Estimating, Planning, Design, and Commercial teams
- Ensure programmes, budgets, and scope are clearly defined and communicated
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Pre-Construction or Senior Estimating role within a main contractor environment
- Strong exposure to major projects in the £50m - £150m value range
- Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of construction methodology
- Confident communicator with the ability to present to clients and stakeholders
- Background in Estimating, Planning, or Design Management is highly beneficial
