About the Company:
Our client is a leading international construction contractor delivering some of the UK & Europe's most complex and high-profile data centre and commercial developments. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline across Coventry, they are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a flagship hyperscale data centre project. This is an excellent opportunity to join a market-leading business renowned for delivering large-scale mission-critical facilities while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and operational excellence.
The Role:
Reporting to the Project HSE Manager, the Health & Safety Advisor will play a key role in promoting and maintaining a positive safety culture across a major data centre construction project. You will work closely with site management, subcontractors and client representatives to ensure compliance with Irish legislation, company procedures and project-specific safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of the project Health & Safety Management System
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety tours
- Ensure compliance with Irish health and safety legislation and company standards
- Assist with the development and review of RAMS, permits and safe systems of work
- Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance on site
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, producing detailed reports and corrective actions
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings
- Assist in the preparation of project safety documentation and reports
- Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project team
- Liaise with project management teams, clients and external stakeholders regarding safety matters
- Track and close out safety observations and corrective actions
- Support emergency response planning and site preparedness
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with ISO 45001 standards
Requirements:
- Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline
- A number of years' experience in a Health & Safety role within construction
- Experience working on large-scale construction projects
- Strong understanding of Irish Health & Safety legislation
- Experience undertaking site inspections, audits and incident investigations
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work within a fast-paced project environment
- Full driving licence
Desirable Experience:
- Data Centre experience
- Mission Critical, Pharmaceutical, Industrial or Major Build project experience
- IOSH Membership
- Chartered or progressing toward Chartered status
- Experience working with international contractors
