A well-established and rapidly growing groundworks and civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support projects across the West Midlands region. The business delivers a diverse range of residential, industrial, commercial, and infrastructure schemes and has built a strong reputation for quality, safety, and operational excellence. As Health & Safety Advisor, you will play a key role in promoting and maintaining a positive safety culture across multiple live construction sites. Working closely with operational teams, site management, subcontractors, and senior leadership, you will ensure compliance with company procedures, legislation, and industry best practices while supporting the safe delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting regular site inspections, audits, and safety reviews across multiple projects
  • Monitoring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
  • Supporting site teams with risk assessments, RAMS, and safe systems of work
  • Delivering toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions
  • Investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses and implementing corrective actions
  • Producing detailed reports and maintaining health & safety records
  • Assisting project teams in identifying and mitigating site risks
  • Supporting subcontractor compliance and performance management
  • Advising operational teams on current legislation and industry best practice
  • Promoting a positive and proactive health & safety culture across the business
  • Assisting with external audits and client safety requirements

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Health & Safety Advisor within groundworks, civil engineering, or construction
  • Strong knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and construction site practices
  • Experience conducting site inspections and audits
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently across multiple sites
  • Excellent report writing and organisational skills
  • Full UK driving licence
