Company Overview: We are a leading UK data centre main contractor delivering mission-critical infrastructure projects across the country. With a turnover exceeding £1 billion, we specialise in the design and build of high-value, technically complex data centre developments for global clients.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced UK-wide Health & Safety Manager to lead and drive health, safety, and compliance standards across multiple live data centre construction projects.
Role Overview: The UK Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for overseeing all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) activity across nationwide data centre construction sites. Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, you will ensure full compliance with UK legislation while embedding a proactive safety culture across all projects. This is a strategic and operational role requiring regular travel to sites across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and implement company-wide health & safety strategy across UK projects
- Ensure compliance with all relevant UK legislation including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments across multiple live projects
- Provide leadership and guidance to site-based H&S advisors
- Develop and review RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements)
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and produce detailed reports
- Work closely with Project Directors and Construction Managers to drive best practice
- Deliver toolbox talks and training sessions
- Manage relationships with external bodies including the Health and Safety Executive
- Support pre-construction teams with tender documentation and compliance planning
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and behavioural safety programmes
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a senior H&S role within construction
- Strong experience working on large-scale projects (data centres or mission-critical environments preferred)
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification)
- Chartered Member of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH) desirable
- In-depth knowledge of UK H&S legislation
- Experience working for a main contractor
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel nationwide
