An opportunity for a senior MEP professional to step into a technically led, client-facing position within a main contracting environment. This role is pre-construction focused, working closely with bid teams and senior stakeholders rather than managing day-to-day site operations.
You will act as the MEP technical authority, supporting tendering activities, engaging with clients early, and challenging subcontractor proposals to ensure the most efficient, compliant, and value-driven solutions are adopted.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the MEP input during pre-construction and tender stages
- Work closely with estimating, commercial, and design teams on live bids
- Engage directly with clients, consultants, and stakeholders during bid development
- Review MEP designs, specifications, and subcontractor proposals
- Challenge subcontractors on methodology, sequencing, and technical approach
- Propose alternative solutions to improve buildability, programme, cost, or performance
- Provide expert guidance on MEP strategy, risk, and value engineering
- Support transition from pre-construction into delivery where required
- Maintain a high standard of technical compliance, quality, and professionalism
- Strong background as a Senior MEP Project Manager within main contracting
- Proven experience working on large-scale commercial or infrastructure schemes
- Solid pre-construction experience including tenders and early client engagement
- Deep technical knowledge across mechanical and electrical systems
- Confident challenging subcontractors and defending technical decisions
- Experience reviewing designs from RIBA Stage 4 onwards
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate autonomously as a technical lead
