We are working on behalf of a well-established and reputable civil engineering and groundworks contractor based in Milton Keynes who are looking to appoint a Buyer to support their growing workload.
This is an excellent opportunity for either:
- An experienced Buyer currently working within construction or groundworks, or
- Someone working for a builders' merchant or materials supplier who is looking to move “client-side” and join a contractor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procuring a range of materials specific to groundworks and civil engineering (e.g. drainage, concrete, aggregates, reinforcement, site consumables)
- Managing supplier relationships and negotiating best value
- Raising purchase orders and ensuring timely deliveries to multiple sites
- Supporting site teams and the commercial department with material availability and lead times
- Identifying opportunities for cost savings and procurement efficiencies
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Buyer in construction or product knowledge from working with merchants supplying to groundworks/civils contractors
- Strong understanding of groundworks-related materials
- Good negotiation and communication skills
- Organised and commercially aware with attention to detail
This is a full-time, permanent role with a successful contractor offering long-term progression and involvement in major residential and commercial developments.
