A leading and highly respected residential groundworks and civil engineering contractor operating across the Midlands region. The business delivers infrastructure, roads & sewers, earthworks and external works packages for many of the UK’s leading housebuilders and developers.

With a strong reputation for quality delivery, long-standing client relationships and a substantial pipeline of secured work, the company is seeking an experienced Construction Director to lead operational performance across multiple residential groundworks projects.

The Construction Director will take full responsibility for the operational delivery of residential groundworks and infrastructure schemes across the Midlands. Reporting directly to the board, you will oversee project performance, operational strategy, programme delivery, client relationships and senior management teams. This is a pivotal leadership role requiring a commercially aware construction professional with extensive experience delivering high-volume residential groundworks projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving business growth, improving operational efficiencies and ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading operational delivery across multiple residential groundworks and infrastructure projects
  • Managing Contracts Managers, Project Managers and senior site teams
  • Developing and implementing operational strategy across the business
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget
  • Maintaining strong relationships with key housebuilder and developer clients
  • Supporting commercial teams to maximise project profitability
  • Driving programme performance and operational efficiency
  • Overseeing resource planning, labour allocation and plant utilisation
  • Monitoring project performance, KPIs and risk management
  • Supporting business development and securing future opportunities
  • Leading health, safety and quality standards across all projects
  • Reporting directly to board-level leadership on operational performance
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Construction Director, Operations Director or Senior Operations Manager within residential groundworks
  • Strong background delivering roads & sewers, infrastructure and residential earthworks packages
  • Experience managing large operational teams across multiple projects
  • Strong client-facing and leadership capability
  • Excellent commercial awareness and programme management skills
  • Strong understanding of residential infrastructure delivery
  • Ability to drive operational performance within a fast-paced environment
  • Full UK driving licence

  • Civil Engineering or Construction-related qualification
  • Experience working with leading UK housebuilders
  • Strong knowledge of NEC and infrastructure contracts
  • Track record of delivering large-scale residential developments
