A leading construction main contractor is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to oversee safety performance across major projects in the Edgware region. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected contractor delivering large-scale, high-value construction schemes, where you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and compliance.
The Role
As the Health & Safety Manager, you will take ownership of site safety across multiple construction projects, ensuring teams operate safely, efficiently, and in full alignment with UK legislation and company policies. You will be the central point of contact for all H&S matters, driving continuous improvement and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all projects remain safe, compliant, and aligned with company and legislative requirements
- Implement and embed company Health & Safety policies to prevent injury, ill health, damage, and wastage
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all statutory requirements relating to construction operations
- Promote the company’s H&S policies and ensure full workforce understanding
- Conduct regular site safety inspections, recording findings and reporting to the Site Managers and Directors
- Ensure corrective actions from previous inspections are closed out within set timescales
- Challenge and address any unsafe behaviour or non-compliance on site
- Support Project Managers with accident investigations and produce timely close-out reports
- Deliver comprehensive site inductions for operatives and subcontractors
- Ensure all welfare facilities, site setups, and statutory notices are maintained to required standards
- Oversee permit-to-work processes, ensuring accuracy and suitability for tasks undertaken
- Maintain safe COSHH storage and ensure environmental risks are minimised
- Review RAMS for suitability and compliance
- Carry out any additional H&S-related tasks as requested by senior management
Skills & Experience Required
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (essential)
- Proven experience working on UK construction sites within main contracting
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and ability to interpret it effectively
- Full, clean driving licence
- Excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Confident decision-maker with a logical and methodical approach

- Salary: £65,000 – £75,000
