A leading groundworks and civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their expanding pre-construction team. With a strong pipeline of residential infrastructure, commercial groundworks, and civil engineering projects, this is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established contractor delivering high-volume schemes across the region.
The Role
As Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for a range of groundworks and civil engineering projects. You will play a key role in securing new business, working closely with commercial and operational teams to ensure robust and profitable pricing strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing detailed cost estimates for groundworks and civil engineering tenders
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
- Producing take-offs for earthworks, drainage, foundations, and external works
- Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Identifying risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
- Attending pre-tender and post-tender meetings
- Liaising with clients, consultants, and internal teams during the bid process
- Supporting handover of successful tenders to the delivery team
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Estimator within groundworks, civil engineering, or infrastructure
- Strong understanding of residential infrastructure, roads, drainage, and earthworks packages
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple tenders
- Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office
- Full UK driving licence
